This car is a tale of two loves: one for a girl, and the other for her car.

Ray and Pat met on a blind date in 1971. Ray was chosen because of his height, and, as it turns out, his date wasn’t short either! She was 28, and a librarian, if that didn’t sweeten up the pot! Ray thought it was sure to fail, yet, six weeks later, they were engaged, and six months later, they were married! In 2021, they celebrated 50 years together.

As it turns out, Pat was the owner of a brand new 1970 SAAB (not the car that we have today). Ray fell in love with her car as well, and they’ve driven 60’s and 70’s Saabs ever since!

This car completed a trip from Albany, Oregon to Albany, New York in 2021. Ray was accompanied for part of the 6,400 mile trip (Iowa to NY and back) by Tom, in the “Getaway Car”
