With SAAB being the only car in the world made by an aircraft company, it only seems fitting that they would make a car dedicated to testing friction on airport runways. These ‘friction testers’ are used throughout the world to determine runway friction. They carry a fifth wheel in the trunk and a water tank to apply moisture to the runway. An on-board computer then measures the braking resistance of the fifth wheel in order to determine a calculation that is used by the incoming pilots for their landing procedures. This is car #10.
